Kulasekara Azhwar Pleading with Thiruvengadamudaiyan
நெடியானே வேங்கடவா பொன்மலைமே லேதேனு மாவேனே
In this Perumal Thirumozhi pathigam on Thiruvegadamudaiyan, Kulasekara Azwar is so desperate to be associated with Thirumalai and Thiruvengamudaiyan in any capacity. He keeps building up his wish list till he finds the next one is a better alternative.
He pleads as follows
- Let me become a Stork (நாரை) living in Koneri ( Pushkarini).
- Since Stork has wings and may fly away, He wishes to be born as a Fish in Pushkarini
- Being born as fish may confine him to waters and not anble him to perform kainakryam to Thiruvengadamudaiyan, Kulasekara Azwar the wishes to be born as one of those Temple Personnel so that he could carry the Gold Vessel to the Lord with aradhana material.
- He Suddenly remembers the fate Of Thondarapodi Azhwar handling Golden Vessel ( Pon Vallttil) and feels that he can be of service to the Lord Venkatesa , if he is born as Senpaga Tree as this tree is very dear to the Lord.
- Indra, the king of devas had kalpa vriksham in his custody. Lord Keishna uprooted the same and gave it to Sathyabama. So he does not want the Senpaga tree option as there is possibility of some one moving it away from Thirumalai. So he now wishes to be born as a bush in Thirumalai.
- He fears the Government may get the bushes removed so he wishes to born as part of Range of Vekadari Hills so that is a permanent feature there.
- Since there is possibility those who build temple another Structures on the look out for stones may blast the rocks, he feels it is safe if he is born as a stream flowing in the Venkadhari hills.
- Since streams may dry up in Summer that option is not safe so he wishes to be born as stone used as a foot path by devotees, so that he could serve the Bhagavathas.
- Kulasekara Azwar even this option is not safe as the devotees may choose other routes, He wishes to born as a karunkal ( Black stone) to be located the door steps of Lord's sannathi so that he can constantly be looking at his coral lips
- Now he fears the administrators may decide to gold plate the entire pathway covering the Black stone, which will prevent him to have Lord's darshan. So having conceived of different ten options and met with some obstacles, Kulasekara Azhwar give up and surrenders to Thiruvengadamudaiyan and he prefers to become any object that the Lord may choose but he would like to be closer to him.
