Sri Kanakadhara Stothram

Sri Kanakadhara Stothram
------------------------------------

When anyone prays for the welfare of others in distress, God listens and acts. That too when a great and noble soul Sri Adi Sankara offered prayers to Goddess Mahalakshmi to shower her blessings, on a poor brahmin lady, who feeling guilty that she had nothing to offer to Adi Sankara who had come to her house and yet offered the one and only amla fruit left at home. Realizing the plight of the lady, Adi Sankara composed the Kanakadhara Stothram of  21 verses. Knowing fully well the lady is serving her past karma, Goddess Mahalakshmi heeded to Adi Sanakara's prayers and showered gold coins to that lady. Such is power of of this stothram and Bhava of request from Adi Sankara that Goddess Mahalakshmi obliged her devotee.
