Sage Agastya was a witness to the battle between Lord Rama and Ravana. After a round of battle for the day, Lord Rama sat in a corner alone in a pensive mood. Agastya knowing that Lord Rama is from Sun dynasty approaches Lord Rama and requests him to chant Adhitya Hrudya Stotram and re-energize himself and be ready to fight Ravana with renewed energy. It is said that Lord Rama obliged, chanted the Stotram thrice. and Sun God came out assured him of success in his endeavor of conquering Ravana.
