The Lord of the Seven Hills Thirumala, Tiruppathi

The  Lord of the Seven Hills, Tiruppathi

It was 1956. My parents had taken me to Tirupathi to have Darshan at at Thirumalai and attend my cousin’s wedding at Thiruchanur. I was the youngest of siblings and cousins the next Eder was 9 years older and rest were 18-22 older than me.

At Thirumalai Suprabatham wakes up not only the Lord but also all devotees with loud speaker playing Suprabatham by Srsi AnanthaSayanam and Party. It was pleasing to hear
Sri Venkatesa Suprabatham was composed 600 years ago by Prathivathi Bhayankaram Annangarachariar upon ordained by Sri Manavala Munigal.
Another great Srivaishavite with same name Prathivathi Bhayankaram Annangarachariar taught Sri P. v AnanthaSayanam to chant the Suprabatham and he used to chant it at the San Athi and later first gramophone record was made.
Little did devotees ever think that a male voice would be replaced by a female voice would be rendering Suprabatham at Thirumalai in 1958. Yes in Bhararatna Smt. M.S.Subbalakshmi’s voice Suprabatham was heard In Thirumalai but also in every home all over India and across the globe wherever Indians lived. It was broadcast in AIR in 1958.
Sri Venkatesa Suprabhatam consists of four parts: Suprabhathm, Sri Venkatesa Stotram, Prapatti, and Mangalasasanam.

Let us begin our journey towards 1st May 2017, by recalling his life events, teachings, achievements, glory and hsi contribution to Srivaishavam and Visishtadwaitham

Note : Not sure if the Ramanuja Jayanthi is on 30th April 2017 or ist May 2017. Needs to be verified

-----------------

When any one wants to know about a guru, he needs to be introduced by someone who had greater understanding abou his work, teachings, glory etc. This time we learn about the guru through his Suprabatham Stothram

We all have heard Venkateswara Suprabatham being chanted early morning to wake up Lord Venkatesa. Same way how do we wake up a Jagathacharyan, who lived close to 1000 years back?

Manavala Mamunigal commanded one of his Ashtathigajangal, Sri

Prathivathi Bhayangaram Annangrachariar of Kanchipuram to

compose a suprabatham for Lord Venkatesa. Sri Annangrachariar

incuded the above two lines to start the Sri Venkatesa

Suprabatham. Late Smt. M.S. Subbulakshmi popularized this

Suprabatham with her sweet voice and Bhava.

I am assuming ( I may be corrected) that the same Annangrachariar

composed Bhagavat Ramanujar Suprabatham presumably under

instructions from Manavala Mamunigal.

Here is a presentation of  Bhagavath Ramanuja Suprabatham.

Sri Ranganatha Suprabatham

Sri Ranganatha Suprabatham

I was under the impression that Thondarappodi Azhwar's  Thirupalliyezhuchchi( http://srimannarayana108.blogspot.com/2013/05/blog-post_16.html)
is being used in Srirangam temple as the Suprabatham for Lord Ranganatha. But I came across this Suprabatham on Lord Ranaganatha. Can Some one confirm
what is being chanted in Srirangam.

Here is the Suprabatham to Lord Ranganatha that I came across.
