Pancha Suktam

 Pancha Suktam


A Suktam is a hymn in praise of the deity intended. It praises the deity 

by mentioning its various attributes.


Pancha Suktam comprises of Purusha Suktam, Narayana Suktam, Vishnu Suktam, 

Sri Suktam, Bhu Suktam and Neela Suktam. 

 

Purusha Suktam is a Hymn in praise of the cosmic Purusha a.k.aVirat Purusha.

Narayana Suktam is a Hymn in praise of Lord Narayana,

Vishnu Suktam is a Hymn in praise of Lord Vishnu.

Sri Suktam is a Hymn in praise of Mahalakshmi

Bhu Suktam is a Hymn in praise of Bhuma Devi 

(Mahalakshmi, Bhuma and Neela Devi are consorts of Lord Vishnu.

Ratha Saptami and Suryopanishad



Ratha Saptami( रथसप्तमी) falls on seventh day in Sukla Paksha of Maagha (Thai) Month. This year it is 8th Feb 2022. This is the day Sun God travelling on his chariott drawn by seven horses towards Northeast direction, This is also is Surya Jayanthi as Surya was born on this day to Kasyapa Muni and Atithi.

In most of the Divya Desams Ratha Saptami is celebrated with deity taken around the streets in Suraya Prabha vahanam.
In Thirumala, it is celebrated as a mini Brammotsavam. The presiding deity, Lord Malayappa Swamy along with his divine consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi are taken to a procession Mada streets in Tirumala. The deities carried out in a procession encircling the temple on seven different vahanams .The seven Vahanams include
1) Surya Prabha
2)Chinna Sesha Vahanam
3) Garuda Vahanam
4) Hanumatha Vahanam
5) Chakrasanam
6) Kalpavriksha Vahanam
7)Chandra Prabha Vahanamm
Surya Upanishad is the Atharvaveda mantra for the Sun. Brahma is the source of the Surya mantra. Sriman Narayana seed of this mantra. This Upanishad helps in attaining dharma, Artha, Gyana and moksha, the goals of Human life.

Narayanopanishad

Lord Sriman Narayana is the source for all four Veda ( Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharava). Each of the four Veda pay Ode to the Creator in Narayanopanishad, Each one Veda describes an aspect of Supreme power Sriman Narayana (Narayana)

Rig Veda says

All things and beings emerged from Narayana. Everything is Sustained by Narayana. Everything ultimately merges in Narayana. All creations are as per His Will.

Yajur Veda says 

Narayanais eternal Pricilple. Brahma, Siva, Indra, Earth, Heaven, Time, Directions, Upper and Lower, Inner and outer  worlds Are Narayana.  Everything is a manifestation of Narayana.  There  is nothing which is not Narayana. Narayana is blemish less, ever blissful and non-dual. Narayana is Supreme self. and one without any Second. Narayana Pervades the entire Universe. 

Sama Veda says

Dwells on the significance of Ashtakshari( 8 syllables)  Manthra " Om Namo Narayana". This is king among manthras'. Those who chant this manthra with sincere faith and devotion( After learning from an acharya) will attain  good health, long life and prosperity and attain the status of Prajapati. Ultimately they stand to gain the state of Narayana Himself


Atharva Veda says

Narayana is Parabrahma. His seat is the lotus of Heart. Knowledge of this Parabrahma is the Highest wisdom. Aum, the Pranava Manthra is the life principle. Those who adore " Om Namo Narayana"manthra will attain the supreme abode of Vaikunda. Sri Krishna is adored as Madhusudhan, resides in all beings. He is the cause of everything.

Benefits of Chanting

Morning Chanting destroys the sins of previous night
Evening Chanting destroys the sins committed during the day.
Chanting at noon pulverizes five great sins
One who chants regularly gets the merit of of study entire veda and oneness with Narayana.
