Let us dwell on the second Pasuram of Ramanuja Nootrandhdhi.

Thiruvarangaththamudhanar reclls the extreme benovelence  and compassion of Bhagavath Ramanuja in ensuring that Amudhanar avoided the company of those, who forgot to seek the lotus feet of Lord Ranganatha of Srirangam and bleesed on him to dwell on the noble qualities of Bhagavath Ramanuja, one who was incessantly attached to lotus feet of Thirumangai Azhwar

In the first pasuram Amudhanar brought out the closeness of Bhagavath Ramanja to Nammazhwar and his THiruvoimozhi and in this pasuram Amudhanar  talks about attachment of Bhagavath Ramanuja to Thirumangai Azhwar.

Peria Koil Nambi  (Thiruvarangaththamudhanar)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ramanuja Nootrandhadhi Thaniangal

March 2nd 2016

Peria Koil Nambi was handling the administration of Srirangam temple. Bhagavat Ramanuja wanted to streamline the operations of the temple as well as administration process. Peria Koil Nambi was a big process hindrance to Bhagavat Ramanuja's plans. Bhagavat Ramanuja was so good in man mangement and devised a scheme to tackle this situation. He asked Koorththazhwan to develop frienship with Peria Koil Nambi and crate a taste and interest in scriptures and Divya Prabhandham. Koorththazhwan undertook the job sincerely and slowly made Peria Koil Nambi to understand  Ramanuja's Mahima and greatness. The plan worked and  Peria Koil Nambi wanted to become a sishya of Bhagavath Ramanuja and he was asked to take Kooraththazhwan as his Guru so that will give a proximity to work with Bhagavth Ramanuja through Kooraththazhwan. Peria Koil Nambi later composed Ramanuja Nootrandhadhi. Bhagavath Ramanuja did not like the initial version and so scrapped it. Bhagavath Ramanuja guided him to re-write the Ramanuja Nootrandhadhi connecting his relationships to Azhwars, Acharya and their works bringing out the respect and reverence he had for all of them. Once it was completed Bhagavath Ramanuja was very happy and gave the Title "Amudhanar" to Peria Koil Nambi and since he was from Thiruvarangam ( Srirangam), he got the new name "Thiruvarangaththamudhanar" Bhagavat Ramanuja gave permission to add "Ramanuja Nootrandhadhi" to Divya Prabhandham, which had 3892 pasurams became 4000 and Came to be known as Nalayira Divya prabhandham. Since the entire  Divya Prabhandham is in Tamil also came to be known as Dravida Veda Sagaram.

Thanians are introduction to the Composer, Prabhandham and subject matter of Prabhandham. Here is summary of four thanians to Ramanuja Nootrandhadhi.

In the first pasuram tributes are paid to the composer  Amudhanar  wwho belongs Moongirkudi lineage. In this thanaian the composer of thanian says by paying respects to the thiruvadi of Amudhanar  ensures that  all sins are wiped out and eanbles to escape from the punishment for sinful  karma from Yama and his messengers

The second pasuram composer advises his mind to dwell on the Ramanuja Nootrandhadhi composed as andhadhi in Kalithurai style,  which pays tribute to the greatness of Bhagavath Ramanuja, who removes the maya surrounding worldly life to those who surrender to him

In this third thanian prayers are offered to Bhagavath Ramanuaja by surrendering to him and requesting him to bless us to chant Ramanuja day and night Nootrandhadhi which details the greatness of Bhagavath Ramanuja and was composed by Amudhanar

The final thanian pays tribute to Amudhanar for having composed Ramanuja Nootrandhadhi also known as Prapanna Gayathri and thanks to Amudhanar every devotee chanting the Prapanna gaythri glorifying Bhagavath Ranmanuja's name
