Sri Gunaratna Kosam composed by Sri Parasara Bhattar
Sri Parasara Bhattar was the son of Koorthazhwan and a great Disciple of Bhagavath Ramanuja and a Srivaishanav Leader after Ramanauja's time. Parasara Bhattar was a brilliant scholar and also the foster son of Sriranaga Nachiar. Parasara Bhattar has a number of works to his credit. He was well versed in Thiruvoimozhi and he used Thirumangaia Azhwars' Thirunedunthandagam to to defeat and attract Nanjeer as his disciple.
One of his great works is Gunaratna Kosam a great sanskrit composition on Sri Ranaganayaki consort of Lord Ranganatha of Srirangam. She is also known as Peria Piratti.
Gunaratna Kosam has 60 verses. Adiyen took several months to read and learn the verses. Even now I can not claim that I can chant it without mistakes. Glad to share it on Panguni uthram day, Serthi day for Lord Ranganatha and Peria Piratti.
Sri Parasara Bhattar explins the Mahima of Sri Ranganayaki and goes on to say that it is she who ensures the grace of Lord Ranganatha is bestowed on Devotees.
Humble presentation on Panguni Uthram day. May Peria Piratti bless all those who listen.
