Thiru Nindravur Bakthavathsalan

Thiru Nindravur Bakthavathsala Perumal

Thirumangai Azhwar has done Mangalasasanam to 86 of the 108 Divya Desams by riding his horse Aadalamaa('ஆடல்மா' ). While passing through several Divya Desams performing Mangalasasanam to respective Archavatharam, he somehow skips Thirunindravur. Mahalkshmi daughter of Samudra Rajan, decides to leave Vaikundam, after a feud with her consort Maha Vishu. She decides to settle down in this village. Because Mahalakshmi ( Thiru) decided to stay here, this place got the name Thiru Nindravur, meaning the place where Mahalakshmi resides. Due to intevention and prayer of Samudra Rajan, Mahavishnu also came down and decides to take Archavatar  and live here as Bkathavatsalan.
Since Maha Vishnu was compassionate to his Baktha and father-in-law Samudra Rajan, he got the title "Bakthavatsalan"

Samudrarajan gives the title " Ennai Petra Thayar" to Mahalakshmi. Kubera Prayed to her and got back all his lost wealth. Mahalakshmi gives darshan as Vaibhava lakshmi

Thayar orders the Bakthavatsalan to go after Thirumangai Azhwar and get Mangalasasanam. Bakthavatsalm Perumal catches up with Thirumangai Azgwar at Thirukadal Mallai and gets a Managalasaanam done. But Thirumangai Azhwar ends his Mangalasasanam stating that he had darshan of Thiru Nidravur Bakathavatsalan in Thirukadalmallai. Not satisfied with one pasuram, Bakthavatsalan decides to have one more pasuram, But then Thirumangai Azhwar had already travelled to Thirukannamangai. So in the second pasuram, Thirumnagai Azhwar ends his Mangalasasanam stating that he had darshan of Thiru Nidravur Bakathavatsalan in Thirukkannamangai.

Here is a Presentation on the two Managalsasana pasurams of Thirumangai Azhwar on Lord Bakthavathsalan.
