Chakraththazhwar - Shodasaayutha Stotram

Chakkrathalwar is considered to be amsam of Sriman Narayanan and part of Panchayuthams and one among his Panja Aayudhams 

Sudarshana is the holy wheel which Lord Vishnu uses as his chief weapon. Sudarshana Chakra is given the status of God by the followers of Ramanujacharya and is known as Chakraththazhwar. In many temples there is separate Sannathi for Chakrathazhwar.  Sudharshana wheel is ever ready to obey His commands and ever ready to protect Baktha, at HIS command. Sri Sudharahana is  powerful and one who can never be vanquished. It is said that Sudhrshana has sixteen different weapons in his 16 hands. 

One can observe Chakrathazhwar with 8, 16, or 32 hands Most popular ones are with 8 or 16 hands with weapons in each hand In some temples, one may notice Chakrathazhwar on one side and Sri Narasimhar on other side of Chakram Chakrathazhwar is said to posess the powers of Lord Narashima and Lord Varaha and hence very powerful

The weapons on the right side from the top

  1. Chakra(discus) 
  2. Parasu (the battle-axe), 
  3. Kunta (the spear), 
  4. Danda (the club)
  5. Ankusa (the goad)
  6. Agni(the flame)
  7. Nistrimsa (the sword) 
  8. Sakti (the spike). 

The weapons on the left side hands from top are
  1. Paancajanya (the conch)
  2. Saarnga (the bow)
  3. Paasa( the noose)
  4. Seera (the plough), 
  5. Vajra (the thunderbolt)
  6. Gadaa (the mace),
  7. Musala (the pestle) 
  8. Trisoola (the trident). 

Vedantha Desika Composed Shodaayutha Stotram on Chakrathazhwar out of compassion to save people from epidemic disease There is one sloka for each of the 16 Ayuthams
