Divya Desa Mangalasasanam
Thiru Kaazhi Cheerama Vinnagaram - DD028
Thiru Kaazhi Cheerama Vinnagaram - DD028
Azhwars have done Mangalasasanam for some Divya Desams very elaborately. For example all 11 Azhwars have sung in praise of Srirangam( Divya Desam 1), Ten Azhwars have sung in praise of Thiruvengadam ( Divya Desam 75) and Thiruparkadal ( Divya Desam 107). Managasasanam to as many as 67 Divydesams was done by one of the eleven Azhwars only
Mangalasasanam depending on how elaborate it is, covered the one or more of following aspects
- Name of Divya desam directly or in a subtle way
- Name of Emperuman directly or in a subtle way
- Manobhavam of Azhwar who composed the pasuram
- References to events , Leelas in Vibhava Avatars
- References to Para, Vyuha and Antharyami forms of Sriman Narayana
- References to 26 Thatwams ( Paramatma, Jeevatma, Moola Prakruthi, Mahaan, Ahankaaram, Manasu, Kaalam Five each of elements, attributes, Indriyas and Senses)
- Divya Desa Vimana, Pushkarini etc
- Natural beauty of the Divya desam surroundings
The pasuram presented below by Thirumangai Azhwar (Parakalan) is the Sarngam (bow) amsam of Srimana Narayana. He holds the distinction of having sung the most number of pasurams than the rest of the Azhwars. Also Thirumangai Azhwar has performed Mangalasasanam at 86 Divya Desams, the maximum by any Azhwar.
In this Pasuram "ஒருகுறளா யிருநிலம்மூ வடிமண் வேண்டி உலகனைத்து மீரடியா லொடுக்கி, ஒன்றும்", Thirumangai Azhwar offers Mangalasasanam to the Lord of Thiru Kazhi Cheerama Vinnagaram Divya Desam. The Moolavar of this Divya Desam is Lord Trivikrama who came as Vamana ( as a Dwarf) and sought a gift and got three feet of land from Mahabali. So Azhwar starts the Pasuram as "ஒரு குறள் ஆய்" to refer to Vamana. Later he grew as Thrivikrama measured the enire upper and Lower worlds and used Mahabali's head for the third measure and sent Mahbali to nether world. Thirumangai Azhwar addresses those waiting to reach the Lotus feet of Lord Trivikrama to go to Thadalan sannathi in Thiru Kazhi Cheerama Vinnagaram Divya Desam, which is well kwown cahanting of four Vedas, Five Maha Yagnas, The six Angas of Veda and usage of saptha swarams and conducting of Utsavams with streets crowded with devotees.
