தீராத விளையாட்டுப் பிள்ளை

Mahakavi Bharathiar lived in Triplicane just opposite to Parthasarathi Temple in front of Narsimmar sannathii . Lord Venkata Krishanan and Utsavar Parthasarathi are Archavatharam of Lord Krishna. He has visited and composed may poems on Lord Krishna ( Kannan). One such brilliant composition is Theeraatha vilayattu pillai. Thosse who understand the Tamil language would very much appreciate the depth to which he dwells on Lord Krishna's Leelas with Gopis and Yasodha. Kannan's enjoyment in teasing Gopikas is well brought out in this composition.

Bharthiar says the endlessly Playful Kannan would give out fruits to Gopikas' and snatch it away half way though. If the Gopikas' plead with him to give it back, Kannan would taste it and give back to Gopikas'. 

Kannan bring honey dipped sweets and keep it at such a height which is beyond the reach of Gopikas to tease them. Kannan would praise the beauty of Gopikas' and when start feeling happy about it Kannan would pinch them till it hurts.

Kannan would bring beautiful flowers and promise to decorate Gopikas' hair provided they close their eyes. When  afew Gopikas" close their eyes just to tease them, Kanna would decorate the hair of their other Gopikas'.

Kannan would pull the braids of Gopikas' from their back and without they realizing he was following them and before they could turn back to whod that mischief he would vanish from the scene. At times he would throw mud at the new sarees worn by Gopikas and make them cry

Kannan would bring his flute and play to mesmerize and hypnotize the Gopikas'. and they would close the eyes and would be listening with their mouths open. Kannan would use this situation and drop 5five or six back ants in their mouth and enjoy at their expense.

Kannan would invite the Gopikas' to play with him despite their telling they have hosehod chores. While he is playing with them, he would vanish and inform their parents about their staying away from House hold chores and this bring bad names to them

Kannan would acts as a good boy to all the relatives of Gopikas' be it mother, father or aunt who are strict with them. Kannan loves gossip and an expert at that. Kannan is very cunning and capabale of lying and switch his version of story according to the sitaution solely to create mis understanding amongst the Gopikas'.

Hence Gopikas' term him as Theeratha vilayattu Pillai  " தீராத விளையாட்டுப் பிள்ளை" ( Chronically Playful Child).

This is a very well handled and sung by most of the populat carnatic musicians. This song is sung as Raga Malika.  starts with Sindhu Bhairavi  followed by Khammas, Shamugapriya and maaand.

This is also song well aspated in Bharata Natyam

தெருவிலே பெண்களுக் கோயாத தொல்லை. (தீராத)

தின்னப் பழங்கொண்டு தருவான்;-பாதி
தின்கின்ற போதிலே தட்டிப் பறிப்பான்;
என்னப்பன் என்னையன் என்றால்-அதனை
எச்சிற் படுத்திக் கடித்துக் கொடுப்பான். (தீராத)

தேனொத்த பண்டங்கள் கொண்டு-என்ன
செய்தாலும் எட்டாத உயரத்தில் வைப்பான்;
மானொத்த பெண்ணடி என்பான்-சற்று
மனமகிழும் நேரத்தி லேகிள்ளி விடுவான். (தீராத)

அழகுள்ள மலர்கொண்டு வந்தே-என்னை
அழஅழச் செய்துபின் “கண்ணை மூடிக்கொள்;
குழலிலே சூட்டுவேன்” என்பான்-என்னைக்
குருடாக்கி மலரினைத் தோழிக்கு வைப்பான். (தீராத)

பின்னலைப் பின்னின் றிழப்பான்;-தலை
பின்னே திரும்புமுன் னேசென்று மறைவான்;
வன்னப் புதுச்சேலை தனிலே-புழுதி
வாரிச் சொரிந்தே வருத்திக் குலைப்பான். (தீராத)

புல்லாங் குழல்கொண்டு வருவான்-அமுது
பொங்கித் ததும்புநற் கீதம் படிப்பான்,
கள்ளர்ல் மயங்குவது போலே அதைக்
கண்மூடி வாய்திறந் தேகேட் டிருப்போம். (தீராத)

அங்காந் திருக்கும்வாய் தனிலே-கண்ணன்
ஆறேழு கட்டெறும் பைப்போட்டு விடுவான்;
எங்காகிலும் பார்த்த துண்டோ?-கண்ணன்
எங்களைச் செய்கின்ற வேடிக்கை யொன்றோ? (தீராத)

விளையாட வாவென் றழைப்பான்;-வீட்டில்
வேலையென் றாலதைக் கேளா திழுப்பான்;
இளையாரொ டாடிக் குதிப்பான்;-எம்மை
இடையிற் பிரிந்துபோய் வீட்டிலே சொல்வான (தீராத)

அம்மைக்கு நல்லவன்,கண்டீர்!-மூளி
அத்தைக்கு நல்லவன்,தந்தைக்கு மஃதே,
எம்மைத் துயர்செய்யும் பெரியோர்-வீட்டில்
யாவர்க்கும் நல்லவன் போலே நடப்பான். (தீராத)

கோளுக்கு மிகவுஞ் சமர்த்தன்;-பொய்மை
சூத்திரம் பழிசொலக் கூசாக் சழக்கன்;
ஆளுக் கிசைந்தபடி பேசித்-தெருவில்
அத்தனை பெண்களையும் ஆகா தடிப்பான். (தீராத)
