Ashtabhuja Ashtakam
This Ashtakam on the Lord of Ashtabhuyakara Divya Desam in Kanchipuram. Moolavar os Aadhikesacva Perumal with eight hands. Perumal graces by weilding Wheel, Sword, Flower and Arrow on four right hands and Conch, Bow, Kedayam and Mace on the left four hands. Thirumangai and Peyazhwar have performed mangalasasanam as Ashtabuyakar Perumal. It is said that when Brahmma performed a yaga to get a vigraha worship for himself. He started this yaga without involving Saraswathi. She was furious and wanted to disrupt the yaga and enagaged Kali and demon sarbaswara. Brahmma prayed to Lord Sriman Narayana to protect the yaga and took the form of Ashtabhuyakara ( with eight divya hands each one holding a specific Ayudham (weapon) and drove away Kali and the demon and enabled the yaga to be completed.
Sri Vedantha Desika has composed this Ashtakam on Ashtabhukara Perumal as a prapatti to Him.
