Sholingur Ghatikachala Yoga Narasimhar and Anjaneyar

Sholingur Ghatikachala Yoga Narasimhar and Anjaneyar

Of all the Avatars that Sriman Narayan took, Narasimha Avatar was intended to confirm that God is omnipresent (தூணிலும்  இருப்பார், துரும்பிலும்  இருப்பார், எங்கும் எல்லாவிடத்திலும் நீக்கமற நிறைந்து இருப்பார்) and rushes to the rescue of Baktha who has immense faith and surrenders unconditionally.  Just to respond to the faith of Prahalada, Sriman Narayana came out of the pillar in Narasimha (Half man and Half lion) form. He was full of anger that his Baktha was tortured and after killing the demon, Lord Narasimha had to be pacified. The Devas and Prahalad did offer prayers to Lord Narasimha. Lord Narasimha is not only powerful but also a Karunya Moorthi.

There are many, many slokas on Lord Narasimha.

Every trip to India, I make it to Sholingur in Tamilnadu 60 KM from Chennai. Here Lord Narasimha offers Darshan as Yoga Narasimhar. This ksetram is also known as Ghatikachalam. It is said that if one spends one Ghatikai namely one Nazhigai (24 min) in the company of Lord Narasimha lot of benefits accrue.

Lord Narasimha and Lord Anjaneya are the top of two hills in . The Peria Malai has 1350 steps leading to Yoga Narasimha Temple and there are 400 steps leading to Lord Anjaneya temple. This kshetram is where Lord Narasimha gave darashan to Saptha Rishis on Yoga Mudra Dyana pose.

Lord Rama gave  Sanghu and Chakram to Hanuman and asked him to protect the Saptha Rishis who were doing penance to get Lord Narasimha's darshan. Lord Narasimha blessed Saptha rishi and Hanuman and asked Hanuman to stay there in another hill and bless devotees in Yoga pose with Sangu and Chakram. Hanuman has four arms (chatusbuja) with a Sanka and Chakra in two arms. Lord Anjaneya is seated in a yogic posture with a Jap Mala and Jap Sanka and meditating upon Lord Narasimhan. Lord Rama Patabisheka is engraved on his Krida (crown) of Hanuman.

There is Varadaraja temple closer to "Thakkan Kulam" on the way to Ghatikachala Hills. Sri Thottaachaaryar,  a great servant of Lord Narasimha, lived in Sholingur. He used to visit Kanchipuram Garuda Sevai regularly. One year he could not make it as he was unwell. He decided to meditate and visualize the Garudasevai of Lord Vararaja from Sholingur and he also composed Devaraja Panchakam on Lord Varadaraja. It is believed that kaanchi varadhar offered  garuda  vaahana  sevai  to him. This event is observed in Kanchipuram on 3rd day of  bramotsavam by having stoppage of proceedings for 2/3 minutes to enable Lord Varadaraja to complete his obligations to Sri Thottaachaaryar.
