Sloka I Enjoyed on Sri Sudarshana - Sudarshanashtakam

Sloka I Enjoyed  on Sri Sudarshana - Sudarshanashtakam

Sudarshana is the holy wheel which Lord Vishnu uses as his chief weapon. Viswakarama' daughter was married to Sun God but she could not tolerate the heat. So Viwakarama confine Sun to a cage and churns to reduce the heat. As a result of this churning Susharashan Chakra comes out in addition to other weapons. Sudarshana, the holy wheel becomes Lord Vishnu's chief weapon held by him on his right hand. Sudarshana Chakra is given the status of God by the followers of Ramanujacharya and is known as Chakraththazhwar. In many temples there is separate Sannathi for Chakrathazhwar. The Chakrapani temple in Kumbakonam is temple for Sri Sudarashana. The Chakrathazhwar sannathi in Srirangam( Chakra Roopi Janardhana), Sudharashana Sannathi in Kanchipuram and Charaththazhwar sannathi in Thirumoghur are famous. The Sudharshana wheel is ever rotating in the hands of Lord Vishnu, ready to obey His commands and ever ready to protect Baktha, at HIS command. Sri Sudharahana is  powerful and one who can never be vanquished. It is said that Sudhrshana has sixteen different weapons in his 16 hands.

There are several slokas on Sri Sudhrashana. One of them Sudarshanashtakam composed by Sri Vedantha Desikan. As the name suggests, it has eight slokas. It is beautiful rhyming sanskrit sloka hailing victory to Sri Sudarshana extolling his virtues and his powers.
