Divya Desa Managalasasanam Thiukkozhi (Uraiyur) - DD002 Kulasekara Azhwars Perumal Thirumozhi 667 Pasuram 2.10

Divya Desa Managalasasanam   Thiukkozhi (Uraiyur) - DD002  Kulasekara Azhwars Perumal Thirumozhi 667 Pasuram 2.10

Azhwars have done Managalasasanam for some Divya Desams very elaborately. For example all 11 Azhwars have sung in praise of Srirangam( Divya Desam 1), Ten Azhwars have sung in praise of Thiruvengadam ( Divya Desam 75) and Thiruparkadal ( Divya Desam 107). Managasasanam to as many as 67 Divydesams  was done by one of the eleven Azhwars only.

Mangalasasanam depending on how elaborate it is, covered the one or more of following aspects

  • 1      Name of Divya desam directly or in a subtle way

  • 2      Name of Emperuman directly or in a subtle way

  • 3     Manobhavam of Azhwar who composed the pasuram

  • 4      References to events , Leelas in Vibhava Avatars

  • 5     References to Para, Vyuha and Antharyami forms of  Sriman Narayana

  • 6      References to 26 Thatwams ( Paramatma, Jeevatma, Moola Prakruthi, Mahaan, Ahankaaram, Manasu, Kaalam, Five each of elements, attributes,  Indriyas and Senses)

  • 7      Divya Desa Vimana, Pushkarini etc

  • 8      Natural beauty of the Divya desam surroundings

The pasuram presented below is by Kulasekara Azhwar.

Kulasekara Azhwar is Kausthuaba amsam of Lord Sriman Narayana spearheaded Bakthi movement. He wanted to visit Srirangam and have darshan of Lord Ranganatha serve him and his adiyaars. Being a King, he had many royal Commitments which prevented him from going to Srirangam but yet he would advise his followers to be ready for a journey to Sriranga Divya Kshetrram.  Infact in his composition, Mukunda Mala he says

"  घृष्यते यस्य नगरे रङ्गयात्रा दिने दिने ।
    तमहं शिरसा वन्दे राजानं कुलशेखरम् ॥"

In this pasuram "அல்லிமாமலர் மங்கைநாதன் அரங்கன்மெய்யடி யார்கள்தம்Kulasekara Azhwar (Ruler of Kolii, Uraiyur and Madurai) says that those who can recite this ten of Perumal Thirumozhi would beget as servants those devotees constantly contemplating on Lord Ranaganatha (Consort of Sri Lakshmi born out of Lotus flowers in Thirukkozhi Divya Desam)
