Divya Desa Managalasasanam Thiukkozhi (Uraiyur) - DD002 Thirumangai Azhwar's Peria Thirumozhi 1762 Pasuram 9.2.5

Divya Desa Managalasasanam   Thiukkozhi (Uraiyur) - DD002  Thirumangai  Azhwar's Peria Thirumozhi 1762  Pasuram 9.2.5

Azhwars have done Managalasasanam for some Divya Desams very elaborately. For example all 11 Azhwars have sung in praise of Srirangam( Divya Desam 1), Ten Azhwars have sung in praise of Thiruvengadam ( Divya Desam 75) and Thiruparkadal ( Divya Desam 107). Managasasanam to as many as 67 Divydesams  was done by one of the eleven Azhwars only.

Mangalasasanam depending on how elaborate it is, covered the one or more of following aspects

  • 1      Name of Divya desam directly or in a subtle way

  • 2      Name of Emperuman directly or in a subtle way

  • 3     Manobhavam of Azhwar who composed the pasuram

  • 4      References to events , Leelas in Vibhava Avatars

  • 5     References to Para, Vyuha and Antharyami forms of  Sriman Narayana

  • 6      References to 26 Thatwams ( Paramatma, Jeevatma, Moola Prakruthi, Mahaan, Ahankaaram, Manasu, Kaalam, Five each of elements, attributes,  Indriyas and Senses)

  • 7      Divya Desa Vimana, Pushkarini etc

  • 8      Natural beauty of the Divya desam surroundings

The pasuram presented below is by Thirumangai Azhwar.

Thirumangai Azhwar (Parakalan)  is  the Sarngam (bow) amsam of Srimana Narayana. He holds the distinction of having sung the most number of pasurams than the rest of the Azhwars. Also Thirumangai Azhwar has performed Mangalasasanam at 86 Divya Desams, the maximum by any Azhwar.

In this pasuram "கோழியும் கூடலும் கோயில் கொண்ட கோவல ரேயொப்பர் குன்றமன்ன" Thirumangai  Azhwar struck by the beauty of Azhagiya Manavalan of Thirukkozhi Divay desam wonders if the same Lord Krishna of Mathura, is also presiding in Uraiyur.Thirumangai Azhwar had not seen such a Lord(Deity) with strong shoulders,  four arms and body huelike deep ocean. The Lord was seen wieliding Conch and Discus in two arms. Thirumangai Azhwar was at loss of words while describing the beauty of the Lord.

Here is a presentaion on Thirumangai Azhwar's  Managalasaanam  to Lord Ranganatha through "கோழியும் கூடலும் கோயில் கொண்ட கோவல ரேயொப்பர் குன்றமன்ன""Pasuram
