Divya Desa Mangalasasanam Thirukkannapuram - DD019 Thirumangai Azhwar Peria Thirumozhi 1702(8.6.5)

Divya Desa Mangalasasanam
Thirukkannapuram - DD019
Thirumangai Azhwar Peria Thirumozhi 1702(8.6.5)

Azhwars have done Mangalasasanam for some Divya Desams very elaborately. For example all 11 Azhwars have sung in praise of Srirangam( Divya Desam 1), Ten Azhwars have sung in praise of Thiruvengadam ( Divya Desam 75) and Thiruparkadal ( Divya Desam 107). Managasasanam to as many as 67 Divydesams  was done by one of the eleven Azhwars only

Mangalasasanam depending on how elaborate it is, covered the one or more of following aspects

  • Name of Divya desam directly or in a subtle way
  • Name of Emperuman directly or in a subtle way
  • Manobhavam of Azhwar who composed the pasuram
  • References to events , Leelas in Vibhava Avatars
  • References to Para, Vyuha and Antharyami forms of Sriman Narayana
  • References to 26 Thatwams ( Paramatma, Jeevatma, Moola Prakruthi, Mahaan, Ahankaaram, Manasu, Kaalam Five each of elements, attributes,  Indriyas and Senses)
  • Divya Desa Vimana, Pushkarini etc
  • Natural beauty of the Divya desam surroundings
The pasuram presented below by Thirumangai Azhwar (Parakalan)  is  the Sarngam (bow) amsam of Srimana Narayana. He holds the distinction of having sung the most number of pasurams than the rest of the Azhwars. Also Thirumangai Azhwar has performed Mangalasasanam at 86 Divya Desams, the maximum by any Azhwar.

In this Peria Thirumozhi Pasuram "ஆமை யாகி அரியாகி அன்ன மாகி அந்தணர்தம் ஓம மாகி,   " , Thirumangai Azhwar performs Mangalasasanam to the Lord of Thirukkannapuram. Thirumangai Azhwar says " The Lord who took koorma avatar as tortoise, The Lord who took the man-lion form in Nrisimha avatar, The Lord who took the form of swan, The Lord who is recpient of offerings in Yaga and Homam, The Lord who existed prior to Pralayam,The Lord who took Rama avatar and cut off the hands and heads of Ravana, the leader of Lanka surrounded by sea on all sides and well protected by huge forts and the Lord considered as the father of Manmadhan (Kaaman) is regarded as the Archavatara Lord of Thirukannapuram and let us offer our prayers to the Lord of Thirukannapuram.

Here is a presentation on Mangalasasanam to Lord of        Thirukkannapuram through Thirumangai Azhwar's Peria Thirumozhi pasuram  "ஆமை யாகி அரியாகி அன்ன மாகி அந்தணர்தம் ஓம மாகி,  "
