Thirumazhisai Azhwar Thiruchandaviruththam 6.1 - 802
Azhwars have done Managalasasanam for some Divya Desams very elaborately. For example all 11 Azhwars have sung in praise of Srirangam( Divya Desam 1), Ten Azhwars have sung in praise of Thiruvengadam ( Divya Desam 75) and Thiruparkadal ( Divya Desam 107). Managasasanam to as many as 67 Divydesams was done by one of the eleven Azhwars only.
Mangalasasanam depending on how elaborate it is, covered the one or more of following aspects
The pasuram presented below is by Thirumazhsai Azhwar. Thirumazhisai Azhwar is an amasam of Sudharsan, the discus that Lord Sriman Narayana wields. Thiumazhisai Azhwar had the grace of Lord Sriman Narayana and he was rescued twice. He was born to Bhargava maharishi and his wife Kanakangi and was a lifeless lump of flesh with no arms and legs. Lord Sriman Narayana came with his consort and gave him a beautiful body and was blessed with an eye on right leg.
Later in his life Thirumazhisai Azhwar studied Buddhism, Jainism and other literature and started following Saivism. Lord Sriman Narayana used Peyazhwar to get Thirumazhisai Azhwar initiated into Vaishnavism . Thirumazhisai Azhwar then focused on Anthayyamithawam form Lord Sriman Narayana. He had composed two Prabhandhams namely Thiruchandaviruththam and Nanmugan Thiruvandhadhi.
In this Thirchanda Viruththam pasuam " சரங்களைத் துரந்து வில் வளைத்து, இலங்கை மன்னவன் " , Thirumazhisai Azhwar performs Managalasasanam to Lord Ranganatha. Thiumazhisai Azhwar says Lord Ranganatha is none other than Lord Rama, who killed the ten headed Ravana. He also Says that Lord Ranganatha resting on Adhisesha is none other than Lord Sriman Narayana who decided to stay in Srirangam for easy accessibility of his devotees.
