Divya Desa Managalasasanam Thiruvarangam - DD001 Thondarappodi Azhwar's Thirupalliyezhchchi (923) Pasuram 7

Divya Desa Managalasasanam   Thiruvarangam - DD001  Thondarappodi Azhwar's Thirupalliyezhchchi (923) Pasuram 7

Azhwars have done Managalasasanam for some Divya Desams very elaborately. For example all 11 Azhwars have sung in praise of Srirangam( Divya Desam 1), Ten Azhwars have sung in praise of Thiruvengadam ( Divya Desam 75) and Thiruparkadal ( Divya Desam 107). Managasasanam to as many as 67 Divydesams  was done by one of the eleven Azhwars only.

Mangalasasanam depending on how elaborate it is, covered the one or more of following aspects
  • 1      Name of Divya desam directly or in a subtle way

  • 2      Name of Emperuman directly or in a subtle way

  • 3     Manobhavam of Azhwar who composed the pasuram

  • 4      References to events , Leelas in Vibhava Avatars

  • 5     References to Para, Vyuha and Antharyami forms                    of  Sriman Narayana

  • 6      References to 26 Thatwams ( Paramatma, Jeevatma,               Moola Prakruthi, Mahaan, Ahankaaram, Manasu, Kaalam     Five each of elements, attributes,  Indriyas and Senses)

  • 7      Divya Desa Vimana, Pushkarini etc

  • 8      Natural beauty of the Divya desam surroundings

The pasuram presented below is by Thondarappodi Azhwar.  Thondarapodi Azhwar was born as vanamala amsam of Sriman Narayana. Thondarapodi Azhwar was born in the Prabhava year, in the month of Margazhi and  Jyeshta Nakshatram. He was born in Vipra family who were devoted to Vishnu. He was named Vipranarayana and  he grew as  a devotee of Vishnu. He visited Srirangam to offer prayers to Lord Ranganatha and settled down in Srirangam to perform  the kainkaryam of maintaining a nandavanam and offering garlands to Lord Ranganatha. He continued this seva for years and Lord Ranganatha performed a leela in his life to draw him more closer. By HIS will the pious Thondarapodi Azhwar was lost in worldly pleasures and so Lord Ranganatha makes him realize his mistake and wakes him up and gears him into Emperumon service. Thondarapodi Azhwar in turn composed Thirupllayezhuchchi the main purpose was to wake Lord Ranganatha and bless his devotees. He also composed Thirumaalai (45 slokas)

In this Perumal Thiumozhi pasuram " அந்தரத் தமரர்கள் கூட்டங்க ளிவையோ " , Thondarappodi  Azhwar says "Oh Lord of Thiruvarangam. Gathered in front of your holy temple are Indra with his elephant Iravatha, all Devas in Deva Lokam and Other worlds along with their sevaks, Sanakadhi Rishi, Matuth Ganas', Yaksharas', Sundaras', and and Vidhadharas' enough crowds and cramping taking place. Looks like no place left on the sky and land around the temple . They are all waiting to worship your Lotus feet. Please wake up bless all of them and gathered devoyees"

Here is a presentaion on Thondarappodi Azhwar's  Awaakening of Lord Ranganatha through "
