Divya Desa Managalasasanam Thiruvarangam - DD001 Poigai Azhwar's Mudhal Thiruvandhadhi (2087) Pasuram 1.6

Divya Desa Managalasasanam   Thiruvarangam - DD001  Poigai Azhwar's Mudhal Thiruvandhadhi (2087) Pasuram 1.6

Azhwars have done Managalasasanam for some Divya Desams very elaborately. For example all 11 Azhwars have sung in praise of Srirangam( Divya Desam 1), Ten Azhwars have sung in praise of Thiruvengadam ( Divya Desam 75) and Thiruparkadal ( Divya Desam 107). Managasasanam to as many as 67 Divydesams  was done by one of the eleven Azhwars only.

Mangalasasanam depending on how elaborate it is, covered the one or more of following aspects

  • 1      Name of Divya desam directly or in a subtle way

  • 2      Name of Emperuman directly or in a subtle way

  • 3     Manobhavam of Azhwar who composed the pasuram

  • 4      References to events , Leelas in Vibhava Avatars

  • 5     References to Para, Vyuha and Antharyami forms                    of  Sriman Narayana

  • 6      References to 26 Thatwams ( Paramatma, Jeevatma,               Moola Prakruthi, Mahaan, Ahankaaram, Manasu, Kaalam     Five each of elements, attributes,  Indriyas and Senses)

  • 7      Divya Desa Vimana, Pushkarini etc

  • 8      Natural beauty of the Divya desam surroundings

The pasuram presented below is by Poigai Azhwar. Poigai Azhwar is first among Mudhal Azhwars (an incarnation of Conch of Lord Sriman Narayana) was found was found in a small pond near the Yadhotakaari temple at Tiruvekkaa.  Poigai Azhwar was devoted to Lord Sriman Narayan since early childhood and he had mastered Vedas and Scriptures,  Poigai Azhwar is also known as Ayonigi, Saro-yogi, Kasara-yogi, Poigai-piraan, Saravora Munindra and Padma-muni. Poigai Azhwar composed hundred verses of Mudhal Tiruvandadhi,  set in the Andhadhi style.

In this Mudhal Thiruvandhadhi pasuram " ஒன்றும் மறந்தறியேன் ஓதநீர் வண்ணனைநான்  " , Poigai Azhwar says that he was blessed and enlightened even when he was in his mother's womb as he prayed to Lord Ranganatha facing  the direction of his temple and he was blessed since then to exhibit sathva gunams always. Given this grace of South facing Lord Ranganatha, he can never forget the Lord Ranaganatha reclining on serpent bed in Thiruvarangam.

Here is a presentaion on Poigai Azhwar's  Managalasaanam  to Lord Ranganatha through "
ஒன்றும் மறந்தறியேன் ஓதநீர் வண்ணனைநான் "Pasuram
